Anime Detour Announcement
Pepito's Parkway Theater and ATC Showing Akira
November 15th 2012, 13:50 CST
Pepito's Parkway Theater and Anime Twin Cities are proud to present
In this seminal anime cyberpunk film, a biker gang becomes embroiled in the machinations of a secret government project in dystopian Neo-Tokyo. One of the teenage bikers manifests his latent psychic powers in the process, and his best friend is determined to save him from the catastrophic consequences that seem certain to befall the post-apocalyptic world. Katsuhiro Otomo spared no production expenses in adapting his epic manga, and the result was soon regarded as a masterpiece in animation. Even as "Akira" approaches its 25th anniversary, its legacy as a landmark anime film is secure.
The movie will be shown on Tuesday, November 20th, at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The Parkway Theater is generously having FREE admission for these showings. Please support the theater by patronizing the concession stand or the attached Mexican restaurant, Pepitos; food and drink from the restaurant can be brought into the theater. Your support would in turn lead to future FREE showings of anime movies the way they were meant to be shown, in a full-size cinema.
This movie is rated R.
